AFPNP Academic Committee Report | March 2001 |
| The Academic Committee was asked to work on three projects this year: 1) Development of a faculty consultation list for NAPNAP and NCBPNP, 2) Survey of PNP graduates to determine role function, and 3) Survey of FNP programs to determine amount and type of pediatric content in programs. 1) The Faculty Consultant project was spearheaded by Beth Richardson. Criteria for selection were developed and sent to all members of AFPNP. Beth reviewed the applications and forwarded the names of six people to Jan Wyatt. 2) A survey of PNP graduates from eleven programs across the country was completed. Findings from this survey will be presented at the AFPNP meeting and compared to findings from last year's survey. This project was lead by Pat Jackson with help from faculty at each of the participating schools. A manuscript regarding the findings from last year's survey has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Pediatric Health Care. 3) A survey of pediatric content in FNP programs was done in conjunction with NONPF. Surveys are now being tabulated. These findings will help AFPNP determine current levels of pediatric content. The next step will be for AFPNP to propose minimal and ideal standards for content and clinical experience. NONPF is anxious for AFPNP to help establish these standards so they can be incorporated into the NONPF program criteria. |
