Report on Competencies Project | (December 2000) |
|
The Association of Faculties of PNP Programs (AFPNP) and the National Certification Board of PNP and Nurses (NCB) each have one representative on the stakeholder's panel gathered for the grant received by NONPF and AACN to develop outcome competencies for FNP, PNP, ANP, WHNP and GNP graduates. The first meeting was held in Washington, DC, on October 5 & 6, 2000. It was a very successful meeting where drafts of the specialty outcome competencies were developed. The PNP draft was reviewed and revised by the AFPNPP Board with Pat Clinton and Jan Wyatt joining in as representatives of the NCB. Now all of the drafts for each specialty have gone out to all the members of the stakeholders group to review content and format. Eventually, there will be a core competencies document and then one for each of the specialties to highlight their unique competencies. The next meeting of the group will be January 18, 2001, in Washington, DC. At that time, we will do one more review of all of the documents and prepare them for wider distribution, review and revision. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the process is going well and many have had or will have an opportunity to participate. It has been my pleasure to represent our organization. - Pam Hellings |
