Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, RN, CPNP, FAAN AFPNP President's Message December, 2003 Please take the time to nominate one of your deserving colleagues for our 2004 research award. The guidelines for submission have been emailed to members and are posted on our web site at this link with a deadline of February 1. The award will be presented at NAPNAP's award breakfast at the annual conference in Dallas. In addition, we would like to post any awards or grants that our members receive on our web site, so please send those announcements to mailto:Bernadette_Melnyk@urmc.rochester.edu. Please note that we have extended the time for our annual AFPNP business meeting in Dallas, which will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2004 from 9 am to 12 noon. I hope you will be able to join us as we will have a lot of important business to discuss at this meeting. Please email any items that you believe are crucial for discussion for that meeting's agenda and bring a fellow colleague to the meeting with you as we continue to strive to increase our membership numbers. AFPNP will be conducting a pre-conference workshop entitled: “Successful Strategies for Implementing Evidence-Based Practice, Teaching EBP, and Writing Grants” to be held on Tuesday, March 23 from 3 to 7 pm. (All proceeds will go to our organization). We also are sponsoring a concurrent session this year on Thursday March 25 entitled “Mastering the Preceptor Role: Challenges of Clinical Teaching.” We hope to see you at these exciting sessions. I, along with our executive board, would like to wish each of you and your families a most joyous and peaceful holiday season. Warm regards, Bern Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, RN, CPNP/NPP, FAAN |
